This collection was inspired by the famous painting “Birth of Venus” by Sandro Botticelli. I wanted to do a collection that used an untraditional perspective of the show’s theme “All Things Spring.” Birth of Venus tells the story of Venus or, as you may her, Aphrodite. The painting depicts Aphrodite rising from the sea as a fully formed ideal woman, being birth from sea form. I want to do a collection that wasn’t purely based on symbols associated with the goddess, but her story. The three looks translate to: The Flower, The Pearl, and The Wave.
